Fire Department

The City of Niagara Falls is one of the most diverse and interesting municipalities in Southern Ontario. The falls may be the featured attraction to our city, but there is so much more. Fast flowing water creates scenic vistas with sheer gorge walls to a wilderness setting within the heart of the city. Our hotel and restaurant district create comfortable settings for visitors from all over the world to unwind while taking in the world class offerings.

These tremendous assets make Niagara Falls a must see stop on any travel itinerary; they also create challenges for the Niagara Falls Fire Department in order to keep our residents and visitors safe.

In order to rise to the challenge of having big city amenities within small city resources, our fire department took responsibility for a higher level of training and response by utilizing a “train the trainer” philosophy many years ago. We provided a higher level of training to those employees who were eager to step forward, creating highly qualified practitioners in a variety of disciplines. These experts committed to create and deliver training programs within the department. This saves the City training costs, provides for a flexible training schedule and directly utilizes a higher level of operational expertise. Examples of this include medical, auto extrication, technical rescue and water rescue capabilities.

Our Fire Prevention division has a daunting task to ensure code compliance in the vast number of commercial buildings within their jurisdiction. We have incorporated a zero tolerance approach to fire safety violations out of necessity, again to ensure the safety of people in our community.

It is imperative that we maximize the performance of each employee, due to the size, scale and diversity of structures in our city. We are committed to the highest level of service and continue to achieve greatness, through the efforts of each employee in our department.
