Remedies for discoloured water

Following a watermain break repair or scheduled maintenance to the water distribution system you may notice slightly discoloured water at your home. This is normal and is likely caused by the water supply being disrupted and restored.

This condition may be simply remedied by running your cold water tap closest to your water meter (this is usually located in the basement), for approximately 10-15 minutes until the water appears clear. If the water does not become clear within the first 10-15 minutes of running your cold tap, we recommend you wait one hour (while limiting water usage in your home) and again run this same cold tap for 10-15 minutes.
