The City of Niagara Falls has been selected as one of only 200 host celebration communities across Canada for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Torch Relay.
The Olympic Flame will travel by land, air and water during its 106-day journey as it visits more than 1,000 communities in our huge and diverse country. Over 90 per cent of Canadians will be within an hours drive and will be able to share in the great moments of the 2010 Olympic Torch Relay. The longest Olympic Torch Relay to take place in a single country will begin its route in Victoria, British Columbia.
The Torch Relay will arrive in Niagara Falls on Sunday, December 20th, 2009. Residents will have the opportunity to see the Olympic Flame in person as it passes through Niagara Falls on its way to the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralypic Games. Niagara Falls will also host a Community Celebration in the evening on the 20th at Table Rock near the brink of the Falls. The Vancouver Olympic Organizing Committee will set up a stage for a evening of entertainment, culminating in the arrival of the torch.
