DO YOU KNOW SOMEONE WHO IS A GOOD CITIZEN?
Nominee should be a resident of Niagara Falls and have not already received a Good Citizen Award. Awards will be given to individuals who have performed outstanding service for the betterment of the community. Certificates will be awarded on Canada Day. Nomination Deadline is June 8. Nominations are to be completed online.
2016 Good Canadian Citizen Award Recipients
We have been told that Paul is one of the hardest working people around, his creation & retention of jobs in the Niagara Region is admirable. Additionally, Paul is a huge supporter of Project SHARE.
Bruce volunteer every day and sometimes twice daily at the Meadows of Dorchester Café. Almost 90 years old, Bruce is lively, friendly face and a joy for all the residents.
Shadab is a very active community member who gives continually gives back. He volunteers with FACS Niagara, the Alzheimer Society of Niagara, Niagara Folk Arts Multicultural Centre, CRA's Community Volunteer Income Tax Program, and also as a rugby coach. Additionally, Shadab is a very generous supporter of sports teams and also throughout the community.
Nick Louras has been a basketball coach with the Niagara Falls Raiders. Nick is a local real estate agent who goes above and beyond the call of duty.
Sylvanna Louras has been an active volunteer with Project SHARE for many years and has assisted with school councils. Slyvanna is also a real estate agent and she goes above and beyond the call of duty.
Renni Piscitelli found time to be involved with many activities and organizations, often sitting on Boards and Executives, such as: Niagara Falls Community Outreach, Niagara Falls Community Health Centre, Information Niagara, Canadian Federation of University Women, Cataract Savings and CU, Council of Canadians, Ontario Early Years, Trustee of Niagara Falls Library, Notre Dame School Council, Girl Guide Leader, Niagara Poverty Reduction, Niagara Research & Planning Council (Niagara Connects), Telsa Research & Innovation Centre, and Zonta. Renni was a remarkable woman who is dearly missed.
Chris Russell volunteers with numerous community groups and continues to freely give his time to the following organizations: Big Brothers Big Sisters, Heaters Hero's, Ludzy's Roast for Parkinsons, Bob Lavelle Memorial Foundation, Niagara Support Services and Project SHARE and also the Canada Day Celebration! Chris is always willing to lend a hand.
Sean Styles is helps everyone no questions asked. He is a regular volunteer for the City's Canada Day Celebration and the Santa Claus Parade.
Kathleen Tunmer has spent more than 25 years volunteering with Scouts and she has taught hundreds of girls and boys the importance of leadership, self-discovery, value, and the importance of giving.
