Heritage Park Playground Build

Listen to this page

The City of Niagara Falls is excited to partner with KaBOOM! and Canada Dry Motts to rebuild the playground at Heritage Park, located on Heritage Drive.  The rebuild date is set for Wednesday, September 23, 2015 from 8:00am to 2:30pm rain or shine.  The build will be conducted by volunteers that live in the community and by members of Canada Dry Motts.  This project was made possible through a successful grant application through the Build it with KaBOOM! Playground Grant submitted by the City of Niagara Falls.  The grant partnered the city with Canada Dry Motts, who are financially paying for the playground equipment.  Currenty, a group of community volunteers, along with support from city staff are recruiting other volunteers to help build this playground.

If you are interested in volunteering for the build, please take a few moments to register online.  We are currently looking for people who can help with registration, wood working, painting, cement work, food handling and other tasks.  Please note, that volunteers are also needed to help with the Prep Day on Monday, September 21. This will consist of unloading supplies and prepping the area for the build day.  The time frame for the prep day will be from 8:00am to 5:00pm.  Sponsorship is also needed to help feed our volunteers!

To contact the City of Niagara Falls for complete details on the build, please call David Antonsen at 905-356-7521 ext.3335 or email dantonsen@niagarafalls.ca.  If you would like to email the volunteer team in regard to sponsorship or volunteer details, please email: heritageparkbuild@gmail.com.  If you are unable to attend in person, we hope that you will show your support for the cause of play in the community by joining the conversation online using the hashtag #playmatters.

NOTE: Volunteers should be age 18+ and will assemble playground pieces, mix concrete, move mulch, etc. during the build day.  Volunteers are requested to wear comfortable clothes that will get dirty.  Closed toe shoes/boots are a requirement.  Please do not bring any valuables. Youth activities will be provided.  Gloves, goggles, breakfast and lunch will be provided during the build day event.
