Niagara Falls, ON, Thursday, April 21st, 2016 – Each Spring, the Park in the City Committee organizes various green events to encourage residents to think about how they can contribute to a healthier environment. The following events provide residents with the opportunity to participate and to make a difference within our community:

Arbour Day – Friday, April 29, 2016

On Friday, April 29, 2016, students from across the City will work alongside volunteers and members from the Niagara Falls Horticultural Society and the Niagara Falls Rotary Club Sunrise to plant fifty (50) new native trees. This Arbour Day, the trees will be planted on the Millennium Recreation Trail and will enhance the trail setting of the Niagara Falls Lions Legacy Pathway section (located at the corner of Thorold Stone Road and Stanley Avenue). This event is supported by Land Care Niagara and Williams Fresh Café.

Tree Seedling Sales – Saturday, April 30, 2016

The Tree Seedling Sale is a one day only promotion, presented by the Park in the City
Committee. On this day, native seedlings are sold for $5.00 each to the community. Over the last four (4) years, more than 1,000 seedlings have been sold. This year, seedlings can be purchased at the MacBain Community Centre from 9am until 12pm on Saturday, April 30th. Tree species selected for sale are White Spruce, White Oak and Yellow Birch.
